June K. Bishop left college in May of 1942 and married Floyd on 9 May 1942. She was a avid golfer. His father, Loren C. Bishop (1885-1961), was a civil engineer and worked as Wyoming State Engineer from 1939 to 1957. His mother, Sadie A. Bishop, was born in Iowa (1878-1942).
Floyd was listed in Who’s Who in Engineering in 1988. He was an officer in the 93rd Engineers and worked on the section of the Alaska Highway southeast of Whitehorse during the summer and winter of 1942. Company E operated the sawmill at milepost 44 near Smart River and also in Carcross. In 1943, he was assigned to Umnak, Ft. Glenn, (Aleutians), Alaska.
