Alaska Highway, Company F and C. Born: 23 December 1919, New Kensington, Pennsylvania Died: 24 October 2003, Hockessin, New Castle, Delaware. A graduate of Carnegie Institute of Technology with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and an avid pistol shooter.
He landed in Skagway, Alaska with the segregated 93rd Engineer Regiment in April 1942. They built the middle section of the Alaska Highway.
His father was Paul Edward Finger (1894-1955) and his mother was Anna Clara Ruppel (1896-1979). His brother was George F. Finger and his sister was Betty Ann Vostinari. He married Alberta J. Cable (1919-1995) on 24 July 1939 in Bristol, VA. They had a daughter, Karol M. Steger and a son, Richard F. Andrews.
He worked as a mechanical engineer for Dupont for 30 years and was in the Army reserves.
