Born: 28 September 1919, Charles City, Virginia. Died: 21 November 2019, Henrico, Virginia. Enlisted: 13 Aug 1941, Richmond, VA and discharged 1945 at Ft. Meade, MD. Education: grammar school, 8th grade able to read and write.
Civil Occupation: laborer general farming. Samuel was a mechanic in Company F motor pool. His platoon Staff Sergeant was Hezekiah Swanigan of Mississippi.
When Samuel was 22 he married Mayola Pleasants, age 20, on 7 April 1942 in Richmond, VA. Samuel was in the US Army when he married and on April 7th the 93rd Battalion received travel orders for Alaska.
His father was Samuel Hargraves (Hargroves), Sr. His mother was Courtney W. Lewis and his sister was Mary Robinson Paige.
