Education: He attended Portsmouth High School and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. After he graduated from MIT he went to Albany, NY and was employed as a installer end repairman for the American Telephone and Telegraph Company.
William H. Locklin arrived to Camp Home Run, NY on 3 Apr 1946 from Le Havre, France. Serial #O – 273322 listed on Lejeune’s manifest is correct.
In 1942, he was a junior officer with the 93rd Engineer Regiment that built the middle section of the Alaska Highway. He arrived on the Highway in July of 1942. This engineering unit completed over 240 miles by October of 1942. They spent Christmas in the Yukon Territory and from 3 January 1943 to 18 February 1943 the 93rd lived in barracks with actual roofs over their heads at Chilkoot Barracks in Haines, Alaska. The next assignment for the 93rd Engineers was in the Aleutian Islands.
His father was Horace Locklin. Horace, rank of Captain, served as an artillery engineer during WW1. William married Blanche C. Phillips on 16 April 1932 in Albany, NY.
