African American, Company D, Alaska Highway. Born: 18 January 1905, Morgan County, Georgia (alternate 2 February 1906). Died: 22 Aug ust1944, Chatham County, Georgia. Enlisted:10 May 1941 at Ft. Benning, GA and discharged 29 June 1943. Education: grammar school. He was married.
The cause of his early death is unknown. The headstone application form states that he was assigned to the engineers prior to his discharge. He is buried at Farrar Cemetery, Madison, GA. On 1910 census his father listed was Charles Slack, a railroad laborer and his mother Rosa was a laundress.
