He was a demolition expert with Company F of the 93rd Engineers on the Alaska Highway. He followed them to the Aleutians. He was awarded The American Defense Service, ATO, APTO and the WW2 Victory Medals.
His first wife, Lillie Bell Sparkman, preceded him in death September 1966. He moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin and married his second wife Tina Ruth Harris on 14 August 1967, a 36-year union.
He worked at Crucible Steel as a Chipper/Grinder for 30 years, retiring in 1981.
